The circular economy has become a fundamental pillar of public policy. Its aim is to minimize our ecological footprint and promote a more sustainable consumption model. In this respect, the decree implementing article 58 of the AGEC law (Anti-Gaspillage pour une Économie Circulaire) marks a crucial step in French regulations. The result of a process involving assessments, surveys and public consultations, it introduces concrete measures to encourage the acquisition of reused and recycled products by public entities.

Key points of the new decree

The new decree introduces several key provisions:

Acquisition targets

From 2024, the State, local authorities and their groupings will be required to purchase a minimum of 20% reused furniture and 15% including recycled material. The aim of this measure is to stimulate the use of circular products and boost the reuse and upcycling economy.

Simplifying the system

The decree aims to simplify the current system to make it clearer and more effective, which should make it easier for public entities to apply and promote greater understanding of circular purchasing requirements.

Progressive obligations

The text introduces obligations staggered over time, giving public entities the opportunity to adapt gradually to the new standards. This gradual approach should help the transition to more sustainable purchasing practices.

Broadening the types of products concerned

In addition to furniture, the decree extends its obligations to new types of products, broadening the scope for sustainable purchasing. This covers a wider range of goods and supports the transition to a more circular economy.

The value of donations for public-sector buyers

A noteworthy innovation is the possibility for public purchasers to value donations in achieving their objectives. This measure encourages the re-use of products and supports solidarity initiatives. This encourages the assistance of charitable organizations and social economy structures.

In the workplace, employees' needs and abilities can vary greatly, whether due to accidents, disabilities, or technological developments related to their profession. In France, adapting workstations to guarantee employee safety, comfort and well-being is not only essential, but also governed by law.

Why is workplace design crucial?

Adapting a workstation may involve making material adjustments, modifying the tools used, or even reorganizing the workspace. The aim is to enable every employee to work efficiently and safely, while preserving their physical and mental health.

Employer's obligations

French legislation requires employers to take all necessary measures to ensure the health, safety and continued employment of their employees, including the implementation of specific accommodations when required. This legal responsibility aims to create a work environment that is adapted to each individual, thus promoting inclusion and productivity.

On December 27, 2023, an important decision was handed down by the Gard Prefecture: SARL ErgoSanté Production, located at 28 ZA de Labahou - 30140 Anduze, obtained approval as an "Entreprise Solidaire d'Utilité Sociale" (ESUS). This decision, governed by the French Labor Code and the Law on the Social and Solidarity Economy, opens up new prospects for this committed company.

The decision, bearing the number 30-2023-12-27-00006, is based on several legal texts, including the Labor Code (articles L.3332-17-1 and R.3332-21-1 to 5), Law no. 2014-856 of July 31, 2014 on the Social and Solidarity Economy, and Law no. 2019-486 of May 22, 2019 on business growth and transformation.

The order of August 5, 2015, defining the composition of the application file for "social utility solidarity enterprise" approval, as well as other texts, help to frame this approach.

A rigorous process: from the prefect's appointment to the sub-delegation of signature

Obtaining this approval followed a rigorous process. The appointment of Mr. Jérôme Bonet as Prefect of the Gard by presidential decree on July 13, 2023 marked the beginning of this stage.

SARL ErgoSanté Production submitted its application for approval on November 23, 2023, demonstrating its compliance with the requirements of article L.3332-17-1-1 of the French Labor Code.

The decision: solid recognition

The approval decision, published in the Recueil des actes administratifs of the Gard prefecture, emphasizes that SARL ERGOSANTE PRODUCTION meets all the guarantees required by law. This recognition, based on compliance with legal criteria, offers the company significant advantages in terms of solidarity and social utility.

The approval is valid for five years from the date of notification of the decision. This gives ErgoSanté a stable period in which to consolidate and develop its activities.

In the event of dispute, the appointment may be the subject of an administrative appeal to the Prefect of the Gard on the basis of :

  • An appeal to the Secretary of State for theSocial Economy,
  • A contentious appeal to the Administrative Court of Nîmes.

In an exemplary move in favor of the environment, the young students of the Alès Municipal Youth Council have embarked on an initiative that deserves to be celebrated. A few months ago, we told you about their initiative to collect over a hundred kilos of plastic corks. These were then donated to ErgoSanté. But that was just the beginning of an even more inspiring story.

Transforming corks into benches

Today, we're delighted to announce that these plastic corks have been given a second life. Thanks to the work of our team in our Cévennes workshop, these corks have been transformed into a magnificent bench. The bench was inaugurated yesterday evening in the Square Lieutenant-Colonel Beltrame in Alès. The Mayor, Max Roustan, the President of Alès Agglomération, Christophe Rivenq, and local councillor, Léa Boyer, joined these young visionaries in their ecological undertaking.

An inspiring example of commitment

This project by the young people of Alès is an inspiring example of commitment to the environment and a more sustainable future. It reminds us that each and every one of us can play a key role in preserving resources. No matter what our age.

If you too would like to take part in our recycling and revalorization initiatives, please contact us. We'd be delighted to help you contribute to a circular world. Anduze, October 18, 2023 - As part of the Pink October campaign, which runs from October 10 to 31, ErgoSanté, a specialist in health and well-being at work, is supporting the cause by donating a chair decked out in pink for the occasion to the Ales-based association Les Guerrières, which works actively for women with breast cancer.

The latest addition to ErgoSanté's product range, l'Espérou has been given the colors of pink October by Lucile Siles, a seamstress at ErgoSanté who is personally involved in the fight against cancer. She explains: " The idea of designing a pink seat came naturally to me, because as a member of an Adapted Enterprise, I feel it's only right to pay tribute to all those women fighting breast cancer. I worked with my partner, Estelle, to cut the fabric and choose the appropriate thread, and I worked alongside Mélanie to make the seams. This chair, made in Anduze, embodies French manufacturing and know-how in the age of the local and circular economy.

The Les Guerrières association enthusiastically accepted to receive this chair and donate it to the outpatient oncology department of the Centre Hospitalier Alès Cévennes, at the instigation of its president, Valérie Gayraud, and Gaëlle Annoot, from the Centre de Coordination en Cancérologie (3C) in Alès. The aim of the donation is to enhance the comfort of professionals working in oncology at the CH d'Alès, while symbolically supporting the women who will be following their care path.

Frankreich, 17.

France, October 17, 2023 - As the European leader in the design and manufacturing of passive exoskeletons under the "Hapo" brand, ErgoSanté is pleased to announce the release of its first "Made in USA" production from its manufacturing facility located in Wilmington, North Carolina. This marks a significant milestone in the company's international expansion, following the success of its original site in France. ErgoSanté's pragmatic strategy aims to produce as close as possible to end-users, both in Europe and worldwide. By 2028, the American market is expected to account for 50% of its revenue.

In March 2023, ErgoSanté announced the production of its first components from its American manufacturing facility under its subsidiary, "HAPO USA Corporation." The arrival of the first "Made in USA" exoskeleton from its HAPO range signifies the beginning of a promising series for the fall of 2023. The exoskeleton market was valued at $354.22 million in 2021 and is projected to reach $1,620.04 million by 2027, with a CAGR of 12.5% during the forecast period (2022-2027), according to Mordor Intelligence™. The HAPO range, used by companies such as Louis Vuitton, Sanofi, Airbus, Mars Incorporated, and Ford, is making significant innovations in the expanding field of Physical Assistance Devices (PADs). These products aim to relieve upper limbs and back while contributing to the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

Two innovations in 2023

In this period of rapid expansion, ErgoSanté continues to innovate. Following HAPO, HAPO SD, and HAPO FRONT, ErgoSanté is introducing two major innovations in 2023.

HAPO SENSOR: The first data sensor for passive exoskeletons, designed for real-time analysis of effort

HAPO SENSOR is a sensor controlled via a smartphone that provides real-time analysis of the intensity and frequency of bending movements by a passive exoskeleton user. The collected data offer objective and real-time insights, helping users understand the benefits of the physical assistance device by measuring the weight relieved during activity (weight and percentage). Afterward, an analysis report is provided free of charge.

HAPO UP: The exoskeleton for overhead arm tasks

This physical assistance device is designed to relieve the shoulders of workers engaged in tasks involving arms raised overhead. The user's arm is held in an interface at the end of an articulated arm, which is attached to the exoskeleton's belt. Physical assistance is provided through a composite material spring blade integrated at the arm joint of the exoskeleton. The effectiveness of the HAPO UP was confirmed in laboratory tests, reducing shoulder muscle strain by 40% during static overhead arm tasks when compared to the same situation without an exoskeleton. It is an interchangeable model with the HAPO UP&FRONT kit.

ABOUT US | Since 2013, ErgoSanté has been designing, manufacturing and distributing innovative, made-to-measure ergonomic solutions for health and well-being in the workplace. Its mission is to keep disabled workers in employment and prevent the risks of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). ErgoSanté is the French manufacturer of the Manufacture des Cévennes brand of responsible seats for sheltered workshops, and the European leader in passive exoskeletons under the HAPO brand. The Group employs over 200 people in France, with 8 regional divisions and 30 local offices, and continues to expand internationally, with 20 contacts worldwide. By 2022, the Group will have achieved sales of 22.7 million euros under its own banner, with growth of 57%.

Today, more than ever, preserving our environment is at the heart of the world's concerns. The carbon footprint we leave behind by using fossil fuels, driving motor vehicles, heating our homes and consuming various products is a reality we have to face up to. Yet there are practical and effective ways of reducing our impact on the planet. One of these is reforestation. In this article, we explore how you can offset your carbon footprint by taking part in reforestation campaigns.

The power of trees: 2.17 tonnes of CO2 absorbed per year

Did you know that planting 100 trees is equivalent to absorbing around 2.17 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) every year? Trees absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and release oxygen. This makes them powerful allies in the fight against climate change... Trees' natural ability to purify the air makes them key players in our quest to reduce our carbon footprint.

A concrete action: 2,335 trees planted in Madagascar

This year, an inspiring initiative was launched in the Antsirabe region of Madagascar. A total of 2,335 trees were planted. These trees play a crucial role in offsetting CO2 emissions. As they grow, they will absorb almost 507 tonnes of CO2 over the next 10 years. This action is part of the fight against the deforestation that has affected Madagascar, nicknamed the Red Island. Nearly 45% of its natural forests have been lost in 60 years. By planting these trees, the initiative contributes to the reconstitution of these precious ecosystems and to raising awareness among local populations of the importance of preserving nature.

Join the reforestation initiative to offset your carbon footprint

If you're looking for a concrete, effective way to offset your greenhouse gas emissions. If you want to enhance your corporate environmental strategy or your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), join this inspiring initiative. You have the opportunity to finance a reforestation campaign in the Malagasy highlands, in collaboration with local partners dedicated to this cause. You'll benefit from careful monitoring of the plantations, and we guarantee full transparency regarding the use of the funds invested.

To find out more about these reforestation projects, visit https://ergosante.fr/ameliorer-votre-empreinte-carbone/.

Anduze, June 29, 2023 - Starting from scratch in 2013 following long-term hospitalization for back pain, Samuel Corgne has turned his life around by creating ErgoSanté. Over the past decade, the Cévennes-based family business has made it its mission to protect the most vulnerable and relieve those who suffer. Specializing in workplace ergonomics, the company enjoyed exceptional growth, becoming the European market leader in passive exoskeletons and a French benchmark in workstation design. In 2023, the company celebrates its 10th anniversary and announces the appointment of its new Managing Director, Dominique Seau.

Successively Marketing Director and General Manager of L'Oréal in Russia and Denmark, Dominique Seau joined the Danone Group in 2001 as Marketing Director of OPAVIA-LU in the Czech Republic, then of LU France the following year. In 2004, he joined Triumph International as Co-Managing Director of the French subsidiary, before returning to his Gard roots in 2007, when he became President of Groupe Eminence in Aimargues. A position he held for 14 years. He then put his experience in operational transformation to good use, advising company directors before being appointed CEO of ErgoSanté in April 2023. " My past experience in the service of French heritage brands and innovation testifies to my commitment to the creation of sustainable value and local jobs," he explains. Well placed to lead the Group's transformation and strong growth, he has been entrusted with the forthcoming launch of "Made in USA" production in North Carolina and the raising of several tens of millions of euros to finance its international growth. " The aim is to maintain our strategy of disruptive innovation and push back our limits, while creating jobs ," explains Samuel Corgne, the Group's CEO.

The French Group celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2023.

A distributor of ergonomic solutions since its inception, ErgoSanté is taking a new step in its development by launching its own production of seats and exoskeletons in 2016 and 2017.

In 2018, the Cévennes-based SME is making a strategic shift, refocusing its activities in Anduze and strengthening its roots in the Cévennes.

In 2019, the company's commitment to inclusion led it to obtain Entreprise Adaptée (EA) status, and in 2020 its products were exhibited at the Élysée Palace, consolidating its reputation in the market. Maintaining a steady pace of several innovations and product launches each year, ErgoSanté intensifies its development from 2021 and expands into key areas such as artificial intelligence (LEA) and green growth. The company is investing in the development of responsible production and is setting up a channel dedicated to the reconditioning and recycling of professional furniture, thus promoting a circular approach in its workshops.

That same year, ErgoSanté attracted the attention of Mutuelles Impact, an initiative of the Mutualité Française, which decided to invest in the company's capital. This partnership marked the start of spectacular growth for ErgoSanté. To meet growing demand, the company adopted an active hiring policy, increased its production area for seats and exoskeletons, and expanded internationally.

In 2021 and 2022, it will inaugurate new, energy-efficient premises to support the intensification of its activities, creating 60 new jobs.

In 2022, ErgoSanté was recognized by the business magazine Challenges as one of France's 9 most beautiful SMEs, and received the ESG award Trophée des Lionnes in recognition of its corporate social responsibility.

More recently, it was awarded the CSR prize by the professional organization L'Ameublement français. Based in Anduze, the SME currently employs over 200 people. By 2022, it expects to have generated sales of 22.7 million euros, compared with 14.5 million euros the previous year. It has 30 local presences in France and 20 international presences.

As Europe's leading designer and manufacturer of passive exoskeletons under the "Hapo" brand and workstation equipment under the "Manufacture des Cévennes" brand, ErgoSanté continues to redefine industry standards by protecting the most vulnerable.

This will be an opportunity for the Cevennes-based company, recognized as one of the 9 most beautiful SMEs in France, to present two innovations that are changing the use of passive exoskeletons: the Hapo Up-front, thefirst 2-in-1 passive exoskeleton dedicated to the upper limbs, and the Hapo Sensor, thefirst passive exoskeleton data sensor created to provide real-time effort analysis.

Hapo Up-front | the1st 2-in-1 passive exoskeleton

HAPO Up-front

Dedicated to the protection of the upper limbs for "overhead" tasks (up) or "arms out" tasks (front, formerly ms), the Hapo Up-front is the first passive exoskeleton of its kind. Designed to significantly reduce back or muscle pain and the onset of musculoskeletal disorders, it can be purchased as a kit (up-front) or individually (up or front). Its unique adaptive nature allows it to provide support by modulating its configuration at will, without tools and in less than 2 minutes. It has been developed with the key characteristics of the Hapo range: lightness, ease of use, freedom of movement, efficiency, and above all a universal user-centered design.

" The Hapo Up-front exoskeleton integrates exclusive composite materials such as carbon tubes and isoelastic spring blades. It's a clever blend of the mastered technology of our top-of-the-line Shiva Exo, the technical expertise of our designers and feedback from workers in the field. It's a first in the industry," says Samuel Corgne, founder and CEO of ErgoSanté.

Scientific data: reduces shoulder muscle activity by up to 40% without affecting postural balance or causing discomfort to users.

Hapo Sensor | the1st passive exoskeleton sensor in the world

HAPO Sensor

The Hapo Sensor is a unique smartphone-driven tool that assesses the intensity and frequency of a passive exoskeleton user's flexion movements. The measurements transmitted by the sensor attached to the device provide objective information with scientific evidence. They help users, ergonomists and occupational health departments understand the benefits of the assistive device by displaying the rate of exoskeleton use and the weight of load saved during an activity.

"Many times, advertisements and marketing pitches reflect anything but reality. As a biomechanical doctor, I need science-based evidence to back up the arguments and make a choice. The Hapo Sensor brings objectivity to the actual use of passive exoskeletons and the concrete benefits they bring to their users," says Bérenger Le Tellier, ErgoSanté's scientific manager.

Scientific data: easy to install and use, the Hapo Sensor provides real-time analysis and reporting on your smartphone.

The French leader in passive exoskeletons is opening a new factory in the United States

French company ErgoSanté will have a new manufacturing location in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2023. This strategic investment proves the company's commitment to the US market, which is projected to represent 50% of its turnover by 2028. WearRAcon 23 will provide an opportunity to present their two latest innovations: the HAPO UP-FRONT, the first 2-1 passive exoskeleton for the upper limbs and the HAPO SENSOR, the first passive exoskeleton's data sensor created to provide real-time effort analysis.

New factory in Wilmington (NC)

For over 10 years, the ErgoSanté Group has designed, manufactured, and distributed innovative and custom ergonomic solutions in France for health and well-being in the workplace. Its physical assistance devices, leaders in the French market for passive exoskeletons, are recognized worldwide. They equip companies like Louis Vuitton, Sanofi, Airbus, Mars incorporated, and Ford with exoskeletons, and orders keep pouring in, resulting in a growth rate of over 200%. Its postural analysis tool "LEA", based on artificial intelligence, is made available for free on Google Play and the Apple Store. During WearRAcon 23 in New Orleans, the largest North American conference dedicated to Wearable technologies such as exoskeletons, ErgoSanté will symbolically begin the production of its first parts using 3D printing technology.

Hapo Up-Front the first 2-in-1 passive exoskeleton

The Hapo Up-Front is not simply another new exoskeleton designed to assist workers with arms raised above their heads. The device's uniquely adaptable nature allows it to provide support for both "overhead" tasks, as well as "arms in front" tasks. What makes the Hapo Up-Front so special is its universal approach, which is tailored to both the task at hand and the workers themselves. In less than 2 minutes, it can be easily transformed from the "Front configuration" to the "Up configuration" without requiring any tools. The Hapo Up-Front is the first of its kind, and has been developed with the same key traits as those of the existing HAPO exoskeleton range: ease of use, efficiency, lightweight, and, most importantly, a design centered around humans, around workers.

"I am particularly proud of the Hapo Up-Front. Beyond its specification and its efficiency, the Hapo Up-Front integrates exclusive composite materials such as carbon tubes and isoelastic spring blades. It is a clever mix between the mastered technology of the Shiva Exo, the technical expertise of the design team and the feedback from workers in the field." Samuel Corgne, CEO of ErgoSanté

Scientific data: reduces shoulder muscular activity by up to 40% without impacting postural balance or causing discomfort to users.

Hapo Sensor the world's first passive exoskeleton sensor

This tool, which can be used from your smartphone, allows you to evaluate the intensity and frequency of the user's bending. These measurements provide with objective feedbacks with scientific evidence. These measurements help users to understand the benefits provided by the exoskeleton by measuring the relieved weight during an activity, in both weight and percentage terms.

"Most of the time, the commercials and marketing pitches we hear or read are everything but reality. What credibility is there without any science-based evidence? As a doctor in Biomechanics, I need data, I need proof to support what has been said. To do so, the Hapo Sensor has been developed to give objectivity on both the effective use of passive exoskeletons and the benefit for workers."

Anduze, November 17, 2022 - Initially developed for the company's internal R&D needs, the LEA postural analysis tool, created using artificial intelligence, is now available to the general public on Apple Store and Google Play.

Used to anticipate the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD), the LEA application is fast, intuitive and free. An application for the benefit of the greatest number After a first web version released in June 2021 dedicated to health professionals, ergonomists and preventionists, the release of the LEA application on Android & iOS opens new perspectives.

Particularly appreciated by specialists, the app allows to identify in one click the repetitive postural or articular constraints of a person that can lead to MSDs in the long run, and without specific support. This easy-to-use tool is now available to the general public.

Samuel Corgne, CEO of ErgoSanté, explains: " I am only interested in technological progress if it can serve our objective, which is to preserve the health of the greatest number of workers. Musculoskeletal disorders are the leading cause of compensated occupational disease. They are a public health issue. LEA allows the free and rapid generation of scientific data on the physical stress of workers during their activity. Its objective is to evaluate the needs or the effectiveness of the ergonomic solutions implemented.

Fast, intuitive and free to use

Non-intrusive for the user whose task is being evaluated, LEA transmits personalized scientific data almost instantaneously. Simply download the application and then film the task with your smartphone or tablet, or import a video. This software solution based on an Artificial Intelligence algorithm developed by ErgoSanté calculates the angle of the joints in relation to their ergonomic reference position. As new analyses are performed, the algorithm improves by self-learning. Everyone can then consult the angulations and the RULA scores, a reference analysis method used in ergonomics to evaluate the risk of exposure to MSDs. The analysis report generated at the end can be sent by email. The video can be downloaded or shared. 30 videos per account can be analyzed monthly. In compliance with the Data Protection Act (RGPD), the analyses are anonymized. Users of the previous web version have the option to download their old data until December 31, 2022 at old.lea.ergosante.com.
