As part of the relocation of two of its sites and following the redevelopment of four Breton boarding schools, the Region decided to recycle its furniture. Some of the furniture was reused internally, in the new Atalante site, while others were donated to players in the social and solidarity economy (SSE). Here is a summary of these two operations.
The largest reuse project carried out with a local authority. Following the clearance phase of the Robiquette, Longchamps 1 and Frantz Heller buildings, linked to the opening of the Region's new Atalante site, 535 pieces of furniture were reused, 91 armchairs reconditioned and 500 chair legs and desks returned to the Vendée factory.
That is to say 1,126 pieces or 23 tons of furniture given a second life, said Valdelia, the eco-organization dedicated to the waste of furnishing elements of professionals, in charge of the operation.
4 boarding school buildings emptied of their furniture
Other operations that testify to the Region's desire to reuse existing furniture, the furniture of the Kerichen and Dupuy de Lome boarding schools in Brest and the Colbert boarding school in Lorient have also been removed in 2022.
This represented 3,463 pieces of furniture handled, loaded and reused for a total weight of 92 tons. Of this total, 67% was reused and 33% went into material recycling.
