One hundred per cent French, the ShivaExoexoskeleton is a physical assistance device, "which allows you to work on the preserved man", stresses Yonnel Giovanelli, in the SNCF's equipment department.

The Shiva-exo exoskeleton was designed with a start-up company based in the Gard, Ergosanté technologies. In a few days, the agents at the technicentre in Varennes-Vauzelles should be able to use this multi-assistance tool which can act on trunk flexion, cervical assistance, arm support in the air or for tool and handling support.

"We've been working on the ShivaExoexoskeleton for three years. How is this device going to help agents in their work? The aim is to develop a human-centred approach. At the tech center, we will determine the situations in which this exoskeleton will help agents. »

Theexoskeleton weighs 6.5 kg, the entire load is on the pelvis. "We've got some ideas on how to improve it. »

Presentation by France 3 Alsace of the Shiva Exo exoskeleton developed by Ergosanté Technologie in partnership with Matériel SNCF! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

The ShivaExo exoskeleton, developed by Ergosanté Technologie in partnership with Matériel SNCF, was on the M6 TV news! 📺👷♀️👷♂️

TheShivaExo exoskeleton is unique both in its design and its features. Designed and produced by ERGOSANTE in our workshops by our own teams. This ShivaExo exoskeleton can therefore be custom-fitted(please contact us).

The ShivaExo is recommended for jobs requiring frequent movement with arms in the air and handling of parts/tools. Systems for compensating for the weight of a tool already exist (tool-holder arms, balancers, etc.), but these systems are fixed in one place or are difficult to mobilize.

As theexoskeleton is worn by the worker, it follows him everywhere, so the worker is continuously assisted without constraints.

Shiva Exo, theexoskeleton developed by Ergosanté Technologie in partnership with Matériel SNCF, was presented in Gilles Bouleau 's TF1 Le JT on 11 June as part of a story set in an SNCF plant in the Bas-Rhin region! 🚊🚋👷‍♀️👷

The SNCF took advantage of the Viva Tech trade fair, which is being held in Paris from 16 to 18 May 2019, to present the Shiva exoskeleton, which it developed over three years in partnership with the start-up company Ergosanté. A tool that will initially be made available to its employees... and that can be adapted to each position. A French first.

"It is a real Swiss Army knife, which can be adjusted specifically to the employee's position. Yonnel Giovanelli, head of the Ergonomics and Organisational and Human Factors division at the SNCF, is a firm believer in the opportunities offered by Shiva, the exoskeleton that his teams have developed in partnership with the start-up Ergosanté. Presented at the fourth edition of the Viva Technology trade fair, which is being held in Paris from 16 to 18 May 2019, the device should relieve transport operator employees exposed to heavy loads and consequently to musculoskeletal disorders (MSD).

THE FIRST MULTIFUNCTION EXOSKELETON...

Shiva is banking on its strong modularity to convince as the market begins to blossom. " For the first time in France, a single exoskeleton will offer up to five different assistance functions," Yonnel Giovanelli told L'Usine Digitale . Cervical extension, trunk flexion, holding arms up, handling and supporting tools: these are all situations that are hard on the health of employees and which Shiva should be able to help them deal with.

The device can support a weight of 15 kg - or 7.5 kg per arm. This is an arbitrary figure, which corresponds to a provision in the Labour Code limiting the load that an employee can carry per unit. Its transfer device is based on a belt capable of transferring the mechanical forces of the handling assistance arms and the position harness to the user's entire body "without creating discomfort". The resistance to movement can be controlled via a wheel on the side. Entirely mechanical, Shiva does not need to be recharged. A significant advantage.

... AND MANUFACTURED BY 3D PRINTING

Sold for €9,990 each, the exoskeleton is produced in Ergosanté's Gard workshops. Almost all of its parts are made by 3D printing," says the start-up. They are as strong as aluminium while being 40% lighter. The technology is evolving rapidly, which is why the flexibility it offers is a strategic asset in a start-up business." To improve the user experience, Shiva is going to improve further. Two projects are underway to make it lighter - although lighter than most of its competitors, it still weighs 7kg - as well as to limit the footprint on the sides.

Adaptable to all morphologies, this exoskeleton will be mainly intended for the industrial sector. The market is expected to grow by 25% to $5 billion by 2028. " This will be most evident in traditional manufacturing, utilities, construction and other heavy industry sectors," ABI research projected in a report published in early May. Shiva is expected to be approved by July, and then tested by the SNCF in real-life conditions. Before being marketed to the general public in the coming months.

Anduze, April 11, 2019 : ErgoSanté, a technological player in the social and solidarity economy dedicated to health and well-being at work, delivered this week to Airbus Helicopters the first exoskeleton from its production subsidiary Ergosanté Technologie. After 3 years of research and development within the framework of an innovation partnership with the SNCF, Ergosanté is launching a firstexoskeleton model of 100% French design and manufacture, the SHIVA EXO. The function of this exoskeleton is to protect the health of operators who work for long periods in difficult positions, with their arms up in the air for example, or who carry heavy loads.

The SHIVA EXO belongs to the family of passive exoskeletons: entirely mechanical, it works without a battery. It has been designed to prevent shoulder, back and elbow trauma: the weight and mechanical stresses supported by theexoskeleton no longer pass through the shoulders and back and are directly redirected to the hips. Light and durable, disengageable on each arm, the device is worn by the operator to relieve all musculoskeletal tensions suffered on a daily basis.

After having followed the development of the project since its inception, Airbus Helicopters is now acquiring a first model for a test phase, before a more substantial deployment.

Martial Petit, labour analyst at Airbus Helicopters, says: " The emergingexoskeleton market has the potential to profoundly improve the productivity and working conditions of operators in our industries. A study of the offers currently available worldwide and an initial series of tests led us to choose the Ergosanté solution, which fully meets our needs, particularly in terms of multi-functionality, adaptability and durability. ».

Samuel Corgne, founder and CEO of ErgoSanté, adds "this first sale is the culmination of 3 years of development and testing by our Ergosanté Technologie teams to create one of the first French exoskeletons. The SHIVA EXOexoskeleton , by its innovative design and the extent of its capabilities, allows us to open a new product line with high potential to pursue our mission: always offer the best technical solution to health problems in companies. »
