CARBON FOOTPRINT: controlling the impact of its activities on society and the environment

In order to control the impact of its activities on society and the environment, ErgoSanté has set itself the goal of offsetting the carbon emissions of its products to achieve neutrality. This is why the company has decided to plant 500 trees in Madagascar as part of a first sustainable reforestation campaign aimed at revegetating land that is currently bare. This meaningful project represents a saving of more than 80 tons of CO² stored per year and a recovery of local fauna.

ErgoSanté, which has taken a strong ecological turn by launching in 2021 in the local and ethical sourcing of its products, has created its own waste recovery channel by reconditioning or recycling used seats under the EcoSiège brand. Since this year, a new energy self-sufficient building completes its global approach in favor of reducing its carbon emissions and the environment.

This first reforestation campaign in Madagascar is part of a long-term approach that will see the emergence of new eco-responsible actions.

Mr. Andriola is a logistics agent in the sterilization and pharmacy department at the Carcassonne Hospital. Recognized as a disabled worker, he has been working full time in this department for four years. He has been a permanent employee since 2010, and previously held several positions: maintenance and upkeep, laundry sorting manager, and driver in the transport department.

The position he currently holds involves a variety of activities and tasks: handling and transporting materials, cleaning, sorting and tidying, receiving and logistical tasks, preparing products for the pharmacy store...

Because of his disability, Mr. Andriola has difficulty with some of these tasks, especially those that require handling, carrying heavy loads or maneuvering, such as forceful pushing and pulling.

Proposals for accommodation made by the Cap Emploi maintenance service

The support provided by Cap Emploi began with a job study in the field in March 2022. The counselor was then able to observe the reality of Mr. Andriola's work and to note his difficulties linked to his handicap. Subsequently, proposals for adaptations and trials of equipment were made, in particular with handling equipment and cupboards that were already available at the hospital.

This test phase was carried out in the presence of the health executive, the head of the sterilization department, the occupational physician, as well as the disability and social assistance referent of the Carcassonne hospital center, in the hemodialysis resuscitation department, the geriatric care department and the operating room department.

These tests have allowed for an efficient reorganization and reorganization of the space: there is no longer any towing or handling effort to move the cabinets, which can weigh up to 200 kg. Built-in carts on wheels have also been provided for Mr. Andriola: this will save him from carrying the heaviest loads for the sterilization department. In addition, for washing tasks, it was proposed to raise the containers to avoid awkward postures, mainly of the back. Steel tables were also provided in the other departments so that Mr. Andriola could easily transfer materials from one room to another.

The exoskeleton, a solution to alleviate the difficulties related to handling and carrying loads

In order to facilitate handling and carrying loads, it was proposed that Mr. Andriola be equipped with a HAPO-type exoskeleton: the posture harness he tested is easy to use and can be put on like a backpack. It is also a light (1.2kg) and discreet harness: it allows a great freedom of movement such as sitting, driving, going up or down stairs. Its assistance power is 14 kg. Thus, the use of the exoskeleton in addition to the provision of carts has allowed Mr. Andriola to considerably reduce the difficulties related to handling and carrying loads.

Mr. Andriola, a successful job retention

The support work of the Cap Emploi's maintenance service carried out in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (employee, occupational physician, health manager, social worker, equipment suppliers, etc.) has borne fruit: Mr. Andriola can now continue his missions in conditions adapted to his pathology.

October 18, 2022 - ErgoSanté, a technological player in the social and solidarity economy dedicated to health and well-being at work, is acquiring a minority stake in the Montpellier-based company ALTERINOV, the parent company of BODYNOV and the Lyon orthopedic school ESOOP. An acquisition through a capital increase of 300,000 euros. BODYNOV, an orthopedic company elected Innovative Company of the Year 2018 by the French Society of Obesity Surgery, recently cited by the newspaper CAPITAL as one of the 400 best French start-ups, has just celebrated its 10th birthday. The undisputed market leader in the manufacture of custom abdominal support belts, BODYNOV built its reputation by taking care of people with obesity before positioning itself on visceral surgery and more recently on lumbar activity. With its unrivalled know-how in personalized medical devices, BODYNOV now relies on ErgoSanté's R&D skills and resources, which are useful for its technical and commercial development. " In truth, if sharing skills is crucial, the will to succeed is enough ", according to Thierry Beauquesne, President of the ALTERINOV Group. Synergies and a common trajectory A key French player in workstation design and physical assistance devices on an international scale, ErgoSanté has established itself as the leader in France in the design and manufacture of passive exoskeletons. In the same line as BODYNOV, the Cevennes-based company designs and manufactures innovative and customized ergonomic solutions for people's health and well-being. To do this, it relies on a laboratory and a design office that give it a unique ability to develop, test, and optimize each of its projects with agility. The operational synergies between the two companies, which share the same values focused on the protection of vulnerable populations, are numerous. They now share a common path marked by a large number of innovative projects. " We are looking at partnership and the creation of long-term synergies," emphasizes Samuel Corgne, founder and director of the ErgoSanté Group. About ErgoSanté BODYNOV : The Hérault-based company BODYNOV was created in Montpellier in 2012. It has 80 employees and a turnover of 10 million. The Gard-based company ErgoSanté was created in 2013 in Anduze. It has nearly 200 employees and a turnover of 14.5 million euros (2021 figures).

On October 14 and 15, the Cevennes-based SME, recently named one of the 9 best SMEs in France by the business magazine Challenges, will present its technological innovations at the ErgoX 2022 symposium in Atlanta (USA).

This annual professional event highlights the latest scientific advances in workplace ergonomics from the perspective of health, safety, well-being at work and risk prevention in a variety of fields and contexts. The event, sponsored by ASTM International's Exo Technology Center of Excellence, promotes the iterative approach to designing safer and more effective exoskeletons. It presents the latest developments, research and technological applications in this field. The opportunity for ErgoSanté to present the new HAPO, a French exoskeleton that embodies the best of innovation for the back.

ErgoSanté's strength is its in-house design office and laboratory, which give it a unique capacity to develop, test, and optimize each of its projects with agility. The family-owned company, based in Anduze, has become the French leader in the design and manufacture of non-motorized exoskeletons. Today, it is one of the key players in the international market of passive physical assistance devices.

Ergosanté, the company that takes care of employees at work

From custom-made office chairs to exoskeletons, the Gard-based company manufactures equipment that takes care of employees at work. The company is experiencing strong growth and has solid social and environmental commitments. The Ergosanté building, a large cube at the end of the Anduze business park (Gard), does not attract much attention. However, the SME, with its 200 employees, half of whom work on the site at the gateway to the Cevennes, has enough to make the CSR managers of the CAC 40 envious. Founded ten years ago, Ergosanté, which employs 80% of disabled workers, first manufactures office chairs adapted to employees who themselves suffer from disabilities or are victims of too many hours of sitting. With 13,000 chairs a year, this industrial craftsman does not intend to compete with products made in China. Ergosanté focuses on high-end ergonomics and custom-made products. This individual adaptation is essential," explains Samuel Corgne, 39, founder of the company. Until now, occupational physicians have made recommendations for maintaining employment and improving working conditions, but this has been done in a vacuum, due to a lack of structured offers. It's as if general practitioners were writing prescriptions for the flu, but there was no pharmacy for the drugs." The market for adapted seats is partly solvent thanks to financing from the Association de gestion du fonds pour l'insertion professionnelle des personnes handicapées (Agefiph). However, this system does not prevent us from having to convince a demanding clientele. "We were able to create a 'telework package' with Ergosanté for our disabled employees," explains Dounia Esnault, disability coordinator at TotalEnergies. The offer is perfectly adapted with a concern for innovation, quality and employee follow-up." From this initial activity, Samuel Corgne has developed two variations. He started collecting and recycling used office chairs - either to reupholster them and resell them at 30% of their original price; or to strip them down and recycle the plastic. The demand for recycled or reconditioned chairs will take off, driven by public orders," enthuses Ergosanté's founder. But even if the activity is not profitable, it had to be launched: we can't let stocks of seats go to landfill every time a company moves."

International ambitions

Above all, Samuel Corgne is trying to grow another seed: Ergosanté sells 4,000 exoskeletons every year, intended to relieve oyster farmers moving bags of oysters and plumbers broken under sinks: "We needed simple products, not robot outfits that no one would ever wear." The result: no Terminator exoskeletons, with piston noise and shiny chrome; but harnesses extended with long plastic rods injected with fiberglass, which help the muscles in their work. Produced entirely in Anduze, thanks to an astonishing mix of 3D printers and traditional seamstresses, they are sold for about 500 euros. Enough to feed the curiosity at the international level. On September 20, salespeople from the United States, Benelux and Spain came to the Gard to test these devices. Ergosanté also wants to set up production centers in the United States, Australia and New Zealand in 2023 to limit the transportation of goods. This heterogeneous cocktail of activities, which would make any strategy consultant's mouth water, has been growing vigorously for the past ten years. For 2022, the turnover should jump by nearly 60% and exceed 20 million euros. The company remains more or less at break-even, without making a profit due to ongoing investments - particularly in human resources. No less than 15 people joined the company in September. So there is no problem in recruiting, whether it's a question of finding a solid security manager, a designer or a loom specialist: the sincerity of Ergosanté's social and environmental commitment and the beauty of the Cévennes region's living environment attract talent more surely than the esplanade of La Défense.

PHOTO GRAND FINAL HANDIF2022

During its Lyon edition, the congress and exhibition dedicated to health and quality of life at work awarded its traditional Innovation Prizes. Twenty-one of the forty-seven entries received awards for technical solutions. Among them, some aim at optimizing the working conditions of small and medium-sized businesses. The Zepros Quo editorial staff has selected ten of them that may be of interest to construction company managers and their employees. Among them, the HAPO of ErgoSanté.

Last May, Préventica Nantes brought together no less than 9,000 professionals. At the end of September, exactly 10,832 prevention and safety professionals gathered in Lyon for three days. With a total of over 450 exhibitors and a rich and varied program of 183 conferences and practical workshops.

In a press release, the organizers of the exhibition emphasized that "Préventica once again confirms its position as an essential platform for sharing experiences and raising awareness of risk prevention and quality of life at work.

Once again, the debates enabled participants to continue to enrich their knowledge and share best practices in terms of team management and social innovations: social dialogue, psychosocial risks, gender diversity and inclusion, benevolent management, meaning of work, return to work after illness, corporate culture, prevention of addictions, incivilities, harassment, etc.

Another major component? Discussions on work organization and risk prevention. Among the topics covered: overall risk management, a focus on the quality of the working environment (air, noise, dust, chemical risk management, regulatory compliance), monitoring of workplace accidents, organization of occupational medicine and identification of the most accident-prone sectors of activity.

Ten innovations for VSEs and SMEs

"In a job market under pressure, living and working conditions in the company are becoming major drivers for employee loyalty and attractiveness," say the show's organizers, who are targeting the construction industry in particular.

During this second regional edition of the year, the Préventica jury also awarded its Innovation Prizes. Among the entries and the twenty-one prizewinners, the Zepros Quo editorial staff has selected ten that may be of interest to construction company managers and their employees. Among these files, ErgoSanté for the Hapo posture harness: an assistance for the back and/or for people whose workstation is considered as painful for the back.

At the first edition of the Grand Prix des Lionnes organized by Challenges, Montefiore Investment and PwC to celebrate the best small and medium-sized companies in France, ErgoSanté received the ESG (environmental, social and governance) award.

Arnaud Declomesnil, sales director of ErgoSanté and Silas Vaubaillon, manager of ErgoSanté Île-de-France, received the award on behalf of the group.

Nine companies were honored in this first edition; these nine Lionesses have a solid and sustainable business model, combining profitability, innovation, human capital development and long-term investment. For many years, they have been energizing our regions, boosting our exports, shining internationally and supporting long-term job creation.

Anduze, September 26, 2022 - Two years after the launch of the first HAPO posture harness, and with the benefit of customer feedback based on 2000 products sold, the ErgoSanté teams have conceived and designed its new version.
This new passive physical assistance device, designed and manufactured in France in its Gard production workshop, replaces its predecessor which it surpasses by its reinforced comfort and improved user experience.
The HAPO exoskeleton embodies the best of French innovation for the back.

A company at the crossroads of technology and altruism

Created in the Gard region of France in 2016, ErgoSanté Technologie has established itself as the French leader in the design and manufacture of non-motorized exoskeletons. Today, it is one of the key players in the international market of passive physical assistance devices. The strength of this Cévennes-based family business is its in-house design office and laboratory, which give it a unique capacity to develop, test and optimize each of its projects with agility.
ErgoSanté has also chosen to make its "LEA" application for postural analysis based on artificial intelligence available to the public free of charge. This application allows the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (www.lea.ergosante.fr). To date, the company has received more than 6,000 analyses that support its innovations and the pursuit of its R&D by meeting the needs of users in terms of ergonomics.

After a successful presentation at WeaRAcon1 - the world's leading exoskeleton trade show - ErgoSanté launched its production this summer in its new premises, which tripled its design and production area and enabled it to manufacture more than 300 products per month.

Low back pain, the "disease of the century" to accompany and prevent

87%. This is the number of people who declare having suffered this year from back pain located in the lower spine, scientifically called "low back pain". For 7% of these people, low back pain becomes chronic, leading to disabling pain that sometimes leads to the cessation of all activity2. This is a real public health issue, in which prevention, based on both the reduction of risk factors and appropriate support for people with low back pain, plays a key role. The objective is to improve working conditions and limit the risk of chronicity, which is recognized as a source of disability.

Mirroring the response to what is considered the "ailment of the century," the global exoskeleton market has been seeing double-digit growth since 2019. From its manufacturing workshop based in Anduze (Gard), which employs 80% of people with disabilities3, ErgoSanté equips many companies with passive exoskeletons, including SNCF, AIRBUS, LVMH, LOUIS VUITTON, SONOFI, EDF, MARS Incorporated, and FORD. It is also a partner for many workers in the construction industry, the craft industry, the medico-social sector or the agricultural world. ErgoSanté exoskeletons are used, for example, in milking parlors, in viticulture or even in oyster beds.

The new HAPO: Nothing changes, but everything changes!

More discreet, lighter and easier to handle than the old one, the new ErgoSanté exoskeleton is easy to use(40s to put it on, 15s to take it off), available in 3 or 4 sizes4 and corresponds to 98% of morphologies. If the principle in static standing or dynamic bending position remains the same, it offers an improved user experience.

Like its predecessor, the new HAPO is dedicated toassisting standing workers whose postural or articular constraints contribute to work fatigue. It relieves the back and helps maintain a good posture, whether in full flexion or standing. By partially redirecting the efforts of the upper trunk - pectoral support - towards the thighs with the help of the springs and by maintaining - without restraint - the lumbar vertebrae with the help of its belt, the HAPO participates significantly in the reduction of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). This new product completes the HAPO product line created in 2020 and enriched by the HAPO MS (dedicated to upper limbs) and the HAPO SD (without unlocking) released in 2021.

From September 27 to 29, the new HAPO, as well as the entire range, will be presented in Lyon at the Préventica trade show, the leading event for health, safety and quality of life at work.

Since the digital revolution, the keyboard has quickly become an indispensable item for people doing office work. This computer accessory allows the user to make a "semblance of a journey" of about 32 km per day with his fingers. Both in data processing and in digital input, the operator becomes familiar with the keys and the use of the keyboard becomes intuitive and spontaneous. Nevertheless, this apparent simplicity hides in reality a physical activity that is often repetitive and a behaviour that generates musculoskeletal pain.

Comfort and convenience are essential to optimise typing conditions and to correct awkward postures that are usually perceived as being without risk to health. Using a keyboard that facilitates good posture It is therefore fundamental to alleviate discomfort and maintain well-being at work. The hands, wrists, shoulders and neck are particularly vulnerable to MSDs. This common situation highlights the importance ofergonomics of keyboarding.

Choosing your keyboard - selection criteria

Beyond a matter of taste and preference, choosing the right keyboard for your job is crucial to working in satisfactory conditions. Classified according to design, mobility or connectivity, this basic peripheral is essential in almost all computer tasks. Some models offer several options and depend on more advanced technology, others have additional keys that other more basic versions do not have.

A traditional wired keyboard has a cable that only needs to be plugged in for the equipment to be operational. The cable must be long enough to allow for optimal use. A wireless keyboard is often compact, lightweight and thinner, and is very practical. It offers greater convenience by allowing the operator to change from their usual working positions. Not being limited by the length of a cable, this connected model is pleasant to use and easy to move. By extension, it will also be a split keyboard, gamer, multimedia, with or without numeric keypad, standard or backlit.

Built around innovative, cutting-edge technology, mechanical keyboards are dedicated to gamers and typists alike. Solid, responsive but slightly more resistant to touch, they are designed in a concept that is ideal for prolonged work or game sessions.

In the digital age, traditional keyboards are gradually giving way to new ergonomic keyboards. These models contribute to a natural and relaxed typing position with their slightly curved keys. They are developed to reduce the strain on the upper limbs and neck by systematically improving the posture of the hand. Wrist flexion is greatly reduced along with the uncomfortable sensations associated with intensive keyboard use.

The ergonomic keyboard and the innovations it will bring

Handling the mouse all day long and typing repeatedly fatigues the upper limbs. The person may experience unpleasant sensations of numbness, fatigue or pain in the fingers and wrists. It is a fact that since the beginning of computerisation of tasks, the realities keep changing with the needs. In response to this ongoing evolution, a new range of more comfortable and easy-to-use keyboards is improving the on-screen experience for operators.

Ergonomic keyboards are optimised versions of standard models. They offer greater comfort of use and promote the well-being of the user, who can continue to work serenely. Designed to make typing easier, these devices have a special design that is tailored to the shape of the hand. As clever as they are practical, they adapt naturally to the position of the wrist to alleviate those pains that can spread to the back region.

Ergonomically designed keyboards prevent the wrist from twisting and keep it in line with the forearms. Properly designed to alleviate disabling upper limb pain, it prevents finger stiffness and the risk of tendon inflammation. The ergonomics of this product are well suited to office workers who spend long hours in front of a computer.

In addition to its basic functionality, the ergonomic keyboard relieves carpal tunnel syndrome, which affects as many as 600,000 people every year in France. People who usually type on their PCs are the most exposed to this nerve problem. Repetitive manual work associated with intensive keyboard use can cause tingling, pins and needles or a progressive numbness in the tips of the first four fingers of the hand and even in the forearms.

Especially recommended for people with hand, arm or neck pain, the ergonomic keyboard promotes a neutral and comfortable typing position. Its specific design will relieve the excessive pressure attributed to the continuous manipulation of the keyboard.

A good complement to ergonomic desks, the monitor arm offers the ideal comfort experience between posture and vision. Flexible and easily adjustable, it allows you to position the screen easily and to save space. This ergonomic device is designed to raise the field of vision and ensure great reading comfort. It allows you to define the right viewing distance from the screen without constraint in order to avoid neck pain, muscular tension and visual fatigue.

Desktop monitors: good practice made easy

How to sit in front of a computer? How do you protect your eyes from the screens? Here is what the experts prescribe: maintain an upright position with your back resting against the backrest, keep your feet flat on the floor and your arms outstretched towards the keyboard, adapt the height of the workstation and adjust the seat to suit your body type, blink your eyes from time to time, take short breaks every hour, and regularly vary your posture and viewing distance. The ideal distance between the eyes and the screen is an arm's length from the sitting position, i.e. about 50-70 cm. The eye should be at a comfortable viewing distance between horizontal and slightly downwards.

Designed for individual use, a height and viewing distance can be adjusted to suit the user's needs. can be adapted to the user's needs. It allows the user to continuously vary their screen posture and adapt their workstation to maintain an optimal experience. Combined with a sit-stand desk, the monitor arm helps to alternate body positions without compromising visual comfort. This allows the user to adapt the monitor to the way they work, whether they are standing or sitting.

A screen always at the right height

Practical and functional, the screen arm is beneficial to health. It is a simple solution for adjusting the workstation to respect the body and vision. It allows the field of vision to be precisely adjusted by placing the monitor at eye level so that the head remains in a natural position facing the screen. If you are working with multiple screens, your monitor arm ergonomically positions them in open book mode - with a main screen in the centre. You can then keep them side by side or move them individually.

Using a monitor arm support improves posture and allows you to work comfortably. It relieves eyesight and temporary headaches by reducing eye strain. Dedicated to workers exposed to the sustained use of a display screen, this equipment makes it possible to maintain reading comfort by orienting it at the right angle. This arrangement favours visual correction and anticipates physical constraints such as neck strain or joint pain due to an ill-fitting screen (too high, too low, too sideways).

A better way of working

PC support arms are designed to improve working conditions by positioning computer monitors correctly. They are robust, easy to set up and comfortable to use. Installing a monitor arm is recommended to avoid stress and reduced visual performance, but also to prevent musculoskeletal disorders in the neck, shoulder and lumbar region. The monitor is simply placed at eye level so that the body can achieve a neutral posture. It invites the user to sit up straight for greater comfort. No need to bend or stoop unnecessarily! By removing the monitor from the desk, it creates extra space on the work surface.

A monitor arm is the most ergonomic way to ensure that the monitor is always placed at the right height and angle. This device encourages the operator to adopt a proper posture in front of a computer by allowing full control over the display. It can be rotated 360° and offers great flexibility to facilitate discussion and sharing with colleagues. Some models are even designed to place the screen vertically. Ergonomic computer monitor stands allow for controlled mounting and installation of monitors. The operator is able to gradually adjust the height, depth and tilt angle of the monitor to provide natural comfort in any position.

Using a desk is a smart, simple and effective way to optimise the layout of any workstation. This easily configurable ergonomic device allows paper documents to be placed in front of the user. This reduces eye strain, neck and back pain. Simply place it between the screen and the keyboard to adopt a neutral posture and enjoy a pleasant reading experience.

Its slightly sloping design is ideal for raising the field of vision so that the operator can stand up naturally and gain comfort.

Prevention of musculoskeletal disorders with a desk

A poorly designed office forces the operator to work in a series of inappropriate postures. In a very short time, these bad working habits result in the progressive appearance of numerous musculoskeletal disorders and back pain.

We unconsciously adopt different positions when consulting documents or small notes usually placed on the side of the computer. This results in a significant rotation of the head, a painful and uncomfortable tilt of the neck, excessive strain on the neck, a sloping neck, drooping shoulders, a tilted head...

A ergonomic desk encourages working in alignment. It refocuses all documents in the line of sight to avoid sudden twisting of the neck due to unnecessary repetitive movements. You can continue to work calmly on your computer and avoid having your back bend all the time while looking at information on paper.

The use of a document support is therefore an effective way of preventing MSDs. This product is innovative and user-friendly. It aligns paper documents with the display screen at the right height and distance to relieve neck pain. The spine retains its natural curvature and your working position will be much more comfortable and ergonomic.

What is the purpose of a desk

A good compromise between posture and vision with a desk

An ergonomic desk is an accessory that has been carefully designed to optimise the reading of paper documentation and to allow manual input and PC work to be alternated without constraint. It is a very practical alternative for reducing discomfort and strain on the eyes.

Working with an aligned document holder provides a better viewing distance and at the same time naturally corrects the user's posture. This support will help to prevent eye strain, which often results in stinging, dry or wet eyes, blurred vision or headaches.

With this innovative and fully functional solution, you will enjoy comfortable reading combined with pleasant typing conditions.

With an ergonomic desk, the documentation is correctly positioned in front of the user, in line with the keyboard and screen. It's an adjustable stand that offers customised use. With a simple, effortless adjustment, you can adapt your workstation and even provide a writing surface for taking notes. You can optimise your workspace in no time at all, while dramatically reducing the amount of time your head spends going back and forth between the screen and paper documents.

Don't wait any longer and don't hesitate to apply for a workstation design with ErgoSanté

An ergonomic mouse belongs to the range of office computer equipment designed to improve comfort and well-being at work. A good alternative to the standard version, it prevents and reduces joint pain in the wrist and discomfort caused by bending the bones of the forearm. Using an ergonomic vertical mouse allows the hand to be kept in line with the arm in a natural way and avoids many awkward positions. Functional and easy to handle, it allows a fluid and relaxed navigation.

A mouse that naturally fits the shape of the hand

Modern and innovative, the ergonomic mouse returns the wrist to its natural position thanks to its shape adapted to the anatomy of the upper limbs. The alignment of the wrist with the arm is recommended to avoid joint pain and musculoskeletal disorders that can quickly spread to the shoulders and neck. This pointing device relieves the muscles of the hand, elbow and forearm. Its simple but clever design has been effectively thought out to allow a much more natural grip.

Designed to increase individual comfort, this state-of-the-art ergonomic device reduces pressure on the hand and arm by providing better support. Regular use of an ergonomic mouse relieves wrist strain and pre-existing pain caused by the repetitive motions and efforts of clicking the mouse. Those seemingly innocuous endless clicks can actually cause musculoskeletal disorders in the wrist and forearm.

User comfort and practicality

Working with an ordinary mouse forces the user to twist the forearm; unlike the ergonomic version which fully respects the shape of the hand. While using an ergonomic mouse takes some time for the operator to adapt, it suggests comfort right down to the fingertips. Once accustomed, the person will feel more relaxed.

Anergonomic mouse provides good support for the wrist and forearm. It is designed to provide a neutral and relaxed position to reduce carpal tunnel discomfort. It is a finely tuned accessory to make prolonged use of the mouse less tedious and more comfortable. This prevents the user from overstretching and twisting, which can lead to pinching and tingling sensations in the fingers, pain in the palm and tendonitis in the wrist area.

The ergonomic mouse improves the clicking experience. Its well-designed structure positions the arm in a natural upright posture that frees the user from exhausting and silently painful movements. This is a reminder of how important it is to choose the right ergonomic device to prevent the onset of chronic musculoskeletal disorders and the risk of manual disability in the long term.

An ergonomic and lightweight mouse

The concept of this computer equipment is based on ergonomics. It protects the wrist, arm and forearm from pain caused by inappropriate and uncomfortable gripping. The ergonomic mouse places the upper limb in a precise angle of inclination that does not compress the median nerve.

It is advisable to choose a model that is both ergonomic and light. Handling a relatively light mouse avoids affliction of the wrist tissue. The advantage of this working tool is that it is easy and pleasant to use. With an ergonomic mouse, the fingers remain flexible and the user feels much less joint pressure.

Semi-vertical, vertical and central mouse

Ergonomic mice come in a number of different formats. In the computer trade, there are generally three (3) main ranges of ergonomic mice, namely, the semi-vertical, vertical and central mouse.

The semi-vertical mouse is hinged at a precise 25° tilt angle to direct the palm towards the inside of the device. It does not put excessive strain on the operator's forearm, thus limiting the strain of handling the mouse. As for the vertical model, the grip angle is defined at 90° to allow a neutral posture of the hand. Its ergonomic qualities are confirmed by its design, which allows good alignment of the forearm, elbow, arm and hand tendons. This innovative hardware is ideal for people with musculoskeletal pain and who are vulnerable to tendonitis. As for the central mouse, this model is essentially used with a keyboard. The configuration of this device offers a new way of working. The central pointer is easy to grip and positions the arms naturally flat on the support, while providing direct support. It refocuses the shoulders, prevents the hand from remaining in a static position while limiting unnecessary gestures and lateral movements that are often exhausting.

The Nugget: ErgoSanté designs ergonomic solutions that help prevent the risk of musculoskeletal disorders, by Lorraine Goumot - 12/05

This Thursday, May 12, prevention solutions against MSDs were presented by Samuel Corgne, director and founder of ErgoSanté, in the column "La pépite" in the program Good morning business presented by Sandra Gandoin and Christophe Jakubyszyn on BFM Business. The opportunity to present ErgoSanté's ergonomic solutions that help prevent the risks of musculoskeletal disorders. A program to find and listen to again in podcast.

Anduze, March 17, 2022 - Concerned about integrating the entire life cycle of its products, ErgoSanté, a technological player in the social economy dedicated to health and well-being at work, is going even further. It now recycles internally 100% of the plastics extracted from used office chairs entrusted to it under the EcoSiège brand for reuse. This plastic is reused in its manufacturing workshop, which is recognised as an "Adapted Company" in Anduze (30), and will soon be added to the range of furniture offered by ErgoSanté.

"Doing good and doing it well"
" Since the launch of our activity, we have paid an eco-participation to state-approved eco-organisations responsible for organising the life cycle of products after use. We quickly realised that we could go further," says Samuel Corgne, founder and director of ErgoSanté. 250,000 tonnes of professional furniture are put on the market in France every year and 100,000 are thrown away.

The global pandemic in 2020 and then the blocking of the Suez Canal in 2021 finally convinced him of the need to change his practices, "the economic exchanges and raw materials that we were sourcing in Asia at the time were blocked, new solutions were needed ".

In the summer of 2021, Samuel Corgne decided to take back control of the sovereignty and life cycle of his products. To do this, he refocused the sourcing of raw materials in France and Europe, and then developed a re-use channel under the EcoSiège brand. " We have started to collect used chairs from companies, SMEs, associations, public authorities and individuals throughout France for reconditioning, upcycling or recycling. This is a concrete way of encouraging local exchanges while giving new life to old trades that are sometimes forgotten.

EcoSiège transforms waste into resources
After a pioneering trial in 2015, the solution launched in September 2021 is meeting with success. " The conditions were right. As proof, of the 14,000 seats designed and sold last year by ErgoSanté, 1,000 of them came from the EcoSiège reuse channel. " 1,000 m² of chairs are waiting to be reconditioned and we are thinking of doubling the production area next year ," says Samuel Corgne.

After purchasing premises in January 2022, the company invested in new equipment in February, acquiring three shredders, a press and a plastic extruder. The objective: to transform EcoSiège's recyclable waste into resources that can be reused by ErgoSanté.

"Thanks to these new acquisitions, we grind, extrude and remould 100% of the plastic on our premises . A technique of continuous transformation plastics processing that allows us to expand the current range of ergonomic products. " Our Gard manufacturing workshop is developing new furniture that will be marketed by ErgoSanté by the summer. In the near future, we will be adding wood, metal, foam and fabric.

A response to societal expectations and regulatory obligations
In addition to the development of its activities, ErgoSanté was recognised in 2018 as the first French company "working for the social and professional integration of people with disabilities" and as an "Adapted Enterprise" (EA) in 2019. " Our reconditioned chairs are sold for 20 to 30% of the price of new ones and the DIRECCTE recognitions now offer our customers the possibility of being part of a civic approach while favourably impacting their Agefiph or Fiphfp contribution. A winning formula.

For Samuel Corgne, " waste must be entirely and indefinitely reusable or neutral for the environment, according to the 'cradle to cradle' principle". Individuals are sensitive to this and the national government seems to have identified the issue. The AGEC law, which came into force on1 January 2021, now obliges local authorities, their groupings and State services to include a percentage of products from reuse or incorporating recycled materials in their public orders. " Our products are 100% compliant," he concludes.
